Steed of Bellerophon, heavenward soaring,

Carried on wings by the gods’ favor given,

When thy bold rider, -the dragon defeated,-

Claimed as hi meed with immortals to dwell,

Proudly thou spurnedst him; baffled, unseated,

Dashed again earthwards he impotent fell.

Thee for our emblem we choose to remind us.

Each to aspire to a loftier height,

Leaving the base and ignoble behind us

- Al that may clog us or fetter our flight :-

So shall we break through the meshes that bind us,

So win our way to celestial light.
